WESTSIDE COURTS /
SAN FRANCISCO

West Side Courts is an acquisition/rehabilitation of a 1940s forgotten property that is the second oldest public housing in San Francisco. It serves a vulnerable population who make below 50% of AMI enabling them to stay in their Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood, where the median home price is $1.25 million. The renovation enhances the original International Style design through bold colors, planar articulation and robust landscaping of formerly concrete areas. The modernization of 136 units provides new kitchens, bathrooms, new materials throughout to enhance indoor air quality and energy savings, and free onsite wi-fi. New community spaces include a computer lab, management and services offices, a food pantry, shared laundry rooms, picnic areas, a tot lot, pet support, and trash facilities. Accessibility upgrades were provided to ensure a more inclusive community.
